CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES:
• Examine how fetal, pediatric and adult postmortem evaluations and postmortem genetic analysis may be beneficial in the identification of cause of death.
• Examine the underlying genetic etiologies of fetal cardiac defects and explore how this information may be utilized for genetic counseling purposes.
• Examine various different genetic testing approaches in the diagnosis of Prader-Willi syndrome and update the audience regarding new developments in treatment options for this condition.
• Describe how new data on genetic variations affects genetic tests for Mendelian diseases and explore how this data can be used for interpretation of genetic test results and how it relates to the need for re-interpretation of genetic test results.
• Examine the challenges associated with panel genetic testing in cancer genetics including the presence of an increased number of variants of uncertain significance. Explore medical management guidelines for cancer risk genes including those with limited penetrance estimates and identify strategies to manage increasing amount of genetic data available surrounding cancer susceptibility.
